9:30 - 10:30 Digby Hardy - Basic music theory for guitarists.

This seminar will cover rudimentary music theory from the point of view of the steel guitar - musical scales, major and minor intervals, the relative title of each note in a scale, musical notes and why the same note can have 2 different names - for example C# or Db. Circle of 5ths, circle of 4ths and reading key signatures. Chords - their structure, their names and their relationships to one another. Why a 6th chord is important in lap steel guitar tunings and a 9th chord is important in psg tunings. Examples and analysis of chord sequences in most popular songs.
