Ron will demonstrate how to use your PSG as a backing instrument. The seminar will give players the opportunity to understand the basics of backing and will enable them to switch from lead instrument as required. Proficiency at backing will let you to accompany the singer as well as become a useful member of a band.
To help students make the most of this seminar, Ron has prepared a booklet and CD with exercises, which he will give to attendees.

The Pedal Steel Guitar is used by most player for Country music and the techniques they typically use are designed to produce the characteristic sounds of that genre. Hawaiian music can also be (and is) played on PSG but the methods employed to get that authentic Hawaiian sound require a very different technique.
Basil will demonstrate what you have to do to make your PSG sound Hawaiian instead of Country.
